About Us
Our story dates back to the 1930s, when the original Raincap was first produced by Waterloo Foundry, an early innovator in metal fabrication. Though Waterloo Foundry is no longer in operation, its spirit of craftsmanship and innovation lives on through our work today.
In 1988, shortly after graduating high school, I purchased the business with my father. Together, we carried forward its proud legacy of precision engineering and quality manufacturing until my father’s retirement due to Alzheimer’s.
At Raincap Industries, our mission is clear and enduring — to build the world’s best raincaps.
We specialize in non-rusting, non-sparking raincaps that perform reliably across demanding applications, from gas pipeline systems to generators and engine exhausts of all types. Each unit is engineered to withstand harsh environments and deliver long-lasting performance you can count on. Our Raincaps will not rust open or shut, for the life of the Raincap. And they will not spark, making them ideal for Gas pipeline applications.
As a small, dedicated team of fewer than ten employees, we combine decades of hands-on expertise with a commitment to personalized service. Our size allows us to stay agile, ensuring every client receives attentive support and consistent, high-quality results.

Owner & Operator, Raincap Industries
With more than 40 years of hands-on experience, Kevin Ubben is the proud Owner and Operator of Raincap Industries. His connection to the company began during high school—Raincap was his very first job. In 1988, when the business came up for sale, Kevin and his father decided to purchase it, turning a meaningful early work experience into a lifelong commitment to quality manufacturing and dependable service.
For the past 37 years, Kevin has led Raincap Industries with a focus on craftsmanship, reliability, and precision engineering. His deep technical expertise and dedication to excellence have helped shape the company’s reputation as a trusted supplier to OEMs, manufacturers, and industrial engineers worldwide.
Kevin holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Metal Casting from the University of Northern Iowa. Outside of work, Kevin enjoys working with his hands—whether it’s restoring cars, riding motorcycles or tackling home repair projects. His love of building, fixing, and improving things reflects the same practical mindset that drives Raincap Industries every day.
